Nature of the Veil

Separating the realm of the living from what lies beyond, the Veil is both barrier and membrane. It keeps the dead from the living while allowing the natural passage of souls. At certain times and places, the Veil grows thin.

Thin Points

Ancient burial grounds, sites of mass death, and places touched by void magic often have weakened Veils. During Spirits Night, the Veil thins everywhere. Necromancers deliberately tear the Veil to work their dark arts.

Consequences of Thinning

Where the Veil is thin, spirits may manifest, the living may glimpse beyond, and passage between worlds becomes possible. This can bring comfort through contact with departed loved ones or horror as malevolent entities cross over.
