The Unnatural State

When a soul cannot or will not complete its journey, undeath may result. This perversion of natural order creates suffering for the trapped soul and danger for the living. Multiple causes can lead to this tragic state.

Causes of Undeath

Violent Death - Souls killed in extreme violence may become trapped by trauma.
Necromancy - Dark magic forcibly binds souls to corpses.
Unfinished Business - Powerful purpose can anchor souls to the world.
Void Corruption - Void energies twist the natural death process.
Curses - Powerful curses may prevent peaceful death.

Release

The undead can sometimes find release through completion of their purpose, destruction of their physical form, or priestly intervention. The Knights of the Dawn specialize in granting final peace to these tortured souls.
