Description
The ancestor of cultivated carrots grows wild throughout Aedelore. Its white root is smaller and tougher than garden varieties, but perfectly edible. White flower clusters bloom in summer, resembling delicate lace.
Cultivation
Wild carrots require no cultivation, growing wherever soil is disturbed. Garden varieties have been bred for larger, sweeter, orange roots. Biennial - produces flowers and seeds in second year.
Uses
Roots eaten raw or cooked. Seeds used as spice with flavor similar to caraway. Flowers attract beneficial insects to gardens. Note: resembles deadly poison hemlock - ensure proper identification.
