Wild Boar
📜
Field observations by Ranger Warden Elara Moonshadow
Classification: Omnivore
Size: Medium-Large
Habitat: Forests and scrubland
Threat Level: Moderate
Description
Bristle-coated and tusked, wild boars root through forest floors in search of food. These aggressive creatures fear little, charging threats with surprising speed. Many hunters have learned too late that boars are not easy prey.
Behavior
Live in groups called sounders, led by dominant sows. Omnivorous, eating roots, nuts, fungi, and small animals. Males solitary except during mating. Will attack when cornered or protecting young.
Ecological Role
Their rooting aerates soil and spreads seeds. Control insect populations. Provide food for larger predators. Can become pests when populations grow unchecked.
