Description

Wyvern Matriarchs are the eldest and largest of their kind, having survived and grown for centuries. They can reach sizes rivaling true dragons, with wing spans that blot out the sun. Their venom has concentrated over the years into something nearly instantly lethal.

Behavior

Matriarchs are the undisputed rulers of wyvern territories, commanding loyalty from dozens of lesser wyverns. They rarely hunt personally-their offspring bring them food. When they do emerge, it is usually to eliminate a threat to their domain or to claim a new territory.

Combat

A Wyvern Matriarch is a flying fortress. Grounding one requires siege-level weaponry or powerful magic. Their hide has thickened over centuries, making them resistant to all but the most powerful attacks. Engaging one without an army is inadvisable.

Lore

The oldest known Matriarch, called Stormwing by the people who fear her, has ruled the Cloudpeak Mountains for over eight hundred years. Entire generations of a nearby village have lived and died paying tribute to her.
