Whisper Fiend
Type: Corruptor
Habitat: Near sleeping mortals, places of despair
Threat Level: Moderate (individually), Extreme (long-term)
Description
Whisper Fiends are small, nearly invisible entities that specialize in corruption rather than direct harm. They appear as distortions in the air, barely perceptible movements at the edge of vision, voices that seem to come from inside ones own head.
Behavior
These creatures attach themselves to vulnerable mortals-those grieving, despairing, or simply exhausted-and begin their work. They whisper doubts, suspicions, and dark thoughts, so subtly that victims believe these thoughts are their own. Over time, the whispers grow louder, more insistent, until the victim begins to act on them.
Combat
Whisper Fiends flee from direct confrontation. They can be driven off temporarily by loud noise, bright light, or the presence of multiple alert individuals. Permanent removal requires identifying the fiends anchor point-usually an object or location associated with the victims trauma-and purifying it.
Lore
The tragedy of Whisper Fiends is that their victims often do not realize they are being influenced until it is too late. Many acts of inexplicable cruelty, betrayal, or despair have been traced to these insidious entities.
