Description

Voidlings are the smallest manifestations of the Void-tiny, skittering things no larger than a hand, appearing as small patches of animate darkness. Individually, they are nearly harmless. In swarms of hundreds or thousands, they can strip flesh from bone in moments.

Behavior

Voidlings function as a collective, moving and attacking in coordination without any apparent communication. They are drawn to warmth and will infiltrate buildings through the smallest cracks, emerging at night to feed. Their presence often indicates a nearby weakness in the Boundary.

Combat

Fire is the most effective weapon against Voidling swarms-even mundane fire will cause them to scatter. Area-effect magic can eliminate large numbers at once. The challenge is preventing their escape, as survivors will inevitably return with more of their kind.

Lore

Farmers and villagers in remote areas have developed various folk remedies against Voidlings, from lines of salt to hanging iron charms. The effectiveness of these methods varies, but the Voidlings clear reluctance to cross certain thresholds suggests they have some basis in truth.
