Formless Terror

Description

Formless Terrors are masses of pure Void-stuff that have not yet coalesced into specific shapes. They appear as roiling clouds of darkness, constantly shifting, occasionally forming eyes or mouths that dissolve as quickly as they appear.

Behavior

These creatures are driven purely by instinct-the Voids hunger translated into mindless action. They flow toward life like water toward low ground, engulfing and consuming anything organic they encounter. They are most dangerous in numbers, where they can overwhelm defenders through sheer volume.

Combat

Formless Terrors are vulnerable to all forms of light and fire. Even torchlight causes them to recoil. They can be destroyed by sustained magical assault, but the true danger is that killing one often attracts others. Where the Boundary is weak enough for Formless Terrors to emerge, there are always more waiting.

Lore

Some theorize that all Void creatures begin as Formless Terrors, slowly developing into more specialized forms as they feed and grow. If true, every Terror destroyed is a future nightmare prevented.
