Abyssal Watcher

Description

Abyssal Watchers are stationary Void entities that manifest as floating spheres of darkness, each containing a single, unblinking eye. They do not attack, do not feed, do not corrupt-they simply observe, transmitting what they see back to the greater consciousness of the Void.

Behavior

Watchers appear in locations that offer broad views of populated areas. They remain in place for days or weeks, observing patterns of movement, defenses, and daily routines. Their presence often precedes a more significant Void incursion, suggesting they serve a scouting function.

Combat

Watchers will flee if approached aggressively, dissolving into shadow and reforming elsewhere. They can be destroyed by concentrated magical attack, but this often proves futile-another Watcher will simply appear to take its place. The Conclave recommends monitoring Watchers rather than destroying them, as their behavior can reveal Void intentions.

Lore

There is debate about whether Watchers are independent entities or extensions of a single vast intelligence. If the latter, every Watcher destroyed teaches the Void something about mortal defenses.
