Description

Dryads are spirits bound to individual trees, usually ancient oaks or other long-lived species. They can emerge from their trees in humanoid form-beautiful but clearly inhuman, with bark-like skin, leaf-like hair, and eyes like pools of amber sap.

Behavior

Dryads are fiercely protective of their trees and the forests around them. They befriend those who show respect for nature and can be powerful allies to druids and rangers. However, they react violently to logging, fire, or any threat to their homes.

Combat

Dryads can command plants within their territory, creating entangling roots and branches. They can also charm those who meet their gaze. However, they are vulnerable while away from their trees and will retreat rather than fight far from home. Harming a dryads tree can kill the dryad herself.

Lore

The Groove Guardian is said to have created the first dryads to watch over forests in his absence. They serve as his eyes and ears, reporting threats to the wild places of Aedelore.
