River Nymph
Type: Water spirit
Habitat: Rivers, streams, waterfalls
Threat Level: Moderate
Description
River Nymphs are beautiful spirits bound to specific bodies of water. They appear as idealized humanoid figures with features that reflect their home-a forest stream nymph might have green-tinged skin, while one from a mountain waterfall might appear crystalline.
Behavior
Nymphs are protective of their waters and those who treat them with respect. They can be helpful to travelers, offering guidance or healing, but become dangerous when their homes are threatened or disrespected. They have been known to drown those who pollute their waters.
Combat
Nymphs can control water within their domain, creating currents, waves, or drowning pools. Outside their water source, they are vulnerable. Fire magic causes them significant harm. Negotiation is always preferable to combat.
Lore
Many communities have established relationships with local nymphs, offering regular tributes in exchange for clean water and protection from floods. Such arrangements can last for generations.
