Warriors
Warriors are the backbone of every army and the first line of defence in every conflict that scars the face of Aedelore. They are trained fighters - soldiers, guards, mercenaries, duelists - who have chosen the straightforward path of steel and endurance over subtlety or sorcery. A warrior's strength is not mysterious. It is earned through years of drill, bruises that teach better than any book, and the hard understanding that in battle there is no second chance to raise your shield in time.
Training and Combat
A warrior's education begins with the body. They train in armour until its weight becomes a second skin, learn to read an opponent's stance before the first blow is thrown, and build the reflexes that keep them alive when everything around them falls apart. Warriors are proficient with every weapon and every type of armour - from the heavy chainmail and battleaxe of a frontline soldier to the lighter kit of a skirmisher. Many develop a fighting style suited to their temperament: some favour the shield wall and disciplined formation, others prefer the raw aggression of a two-handed weapon and the momentum of a charge.
What sets a warrior apart from a common brawler is discipline. They understand formations, supply lines, and the difference between courage and recklessness. They know when to press an attack and when to hold ground. This training makes them invaluable not only in open battle but in the tight corridors of a ruin, the chaos of an ambush, or the grim work of holding a gate while others retreat.
Place in the World
Warriors serve in every corner of Aedelore. They garrison the walls of Serexa Fortress and Castle Black, guard merchant caravans through the roads near Avenstoff, and fill the ranks of every noble house that can afford to arm them. Among humans, warriors who follow the Flame of Taninsam see combat as a trial by fire - a forge that tempers the soul. Dwarven warriors carry the weight of their ancestors' traditions into every fight, while orc and troll warriors fight with a ferocity rooted in clan honour and survival. Whatever their origin, warriors share a common truth: when the darkness comes, someone has to stand in front of it. That someone is usually them.
