Warden

Wardens are the silent guardians of Aedelore's borders, stationed where civilization ends and the Void begins. They serve along the frontier stretching from Serexa through Castle Black to the Brightwoods, keeping watch over the thin line between the known world and the darkness beyond. Unlike knights or soldiers who fight for crowns and glory, Wardens exist to endure. They are chosen not for their ambition but for their resilience, their willingness to stand in places where others refuse to go.
Training and Methods
A Warden's training is rooted in tradition rather than magic. They learn to read the land, to sense when the soil has been touched by the Void, to ward a camp with stones and salt, and to send coded signals across mountain ridges with nothing but fire and smoke. Their methods are old, passed down through generations of border guards who understood that survival on the frontier depends on discipline, awareness and the trust of those who stand beside you. They do not cast spells. They dig in, hold the line and bring their wounded home.
Place in the World
Wardens live hard, spartan lives far from the comforts of the cities they protect. They are respected by soldiers, guards and the scattered villages along the border, but largely ignored by nobility and mages who consider the frontier a problem best left to others. Most Wardens carry scars, both visible and not, from years of exposure to the Void's influence. They rarely speak of what they have seen. Those who serve long enough develop an instinct for corruption, a gut feeling for when something is wrong that no amount of arcane study can replicate. It is said that a Warden never truly leaves the border. The border lives in them.
