Shadowcat
📜
Field observations by Ranger Warden Elara Moonshadow
Classification: Predator
Size: Medium-Large
Habitat: Dense forests
Threat Level: Moderate
Description
Nearly invisible in forest shadows, the Shadowcat is a spotted predator of exceptional stealth. Its coat pattern breaks up its outline perfectly, and it moves without sound. Many travelers pass within feet of watching Shadowcats without ever knowing.
Behavior
Strictly nocturnal. Ambush hunters that drop from trees onto prey. Solitary and territorial. Avoid humans when possible but will attack if threatened or starving.
Ecological Role
Control populations of deer, boar, and smaller predators. Their presence indicates healthy, mature forest. Pelts highly valued but hunting is difficult and dangerous.
