Serpentroot
Warning catalog by Poisoner-Scholar Vesper Nighthollow
Classification: Animated Hazard
Habitat: Dark forests
Danger Level: Moderate
Description
Serpentroot earned its name from its disturbing ability to move. The roots of this plant slither through soil like snakes, tripping travelers and dragging small creatures underground. Whether this is true sentience or mere reflex remains debated.
Effects
Roots actively attempt to entangle legs and drag victims down. Constriction causes bruising and broken bones. Victims pulled underground suffocate. The plant seems drawn to vibration and body heat.
Identification
Above-ground portion is unremarkable - small purple flowers on leafy stems. Ground around plant shows disturbed soil and surface roots that occasionally twitch. Area often littered with small animal bones.
