Description

This sickly yellow mushroom releases clouds of spores when disturbed. The spores carry a wasting disease that afflicts those who breathe them. Blightcap colonies can render entire cave systems uninhabitable.

Effects

Spore inhalation causes a progressive lung disease called Miners Blight. Victims cough blood and gradually suffocate over weeks or months. No cure exists, though symptoms can be managed.

Identification

Sickly yellow-green cap with white gills. Grows in clusters on rotting wood or corpses. Gives off faint sulfurous smell. Cap releases visible yellow spore cloud when touched or when mature.
