Treant
Type: Awakened tree
Habitat: Ancient forests
Threat Level: High
Description
Treants are trees that have awakened to consciousness, able to move, speak, and act independently. They appear as massive, gnarled trees with faces formed in their bark and roots that serve as legs. They can reach heights of over fifty feet.
Behavior
Treants are patient guardians of forests, spending most of their time standing silently, indistinguishable from normal trees. They only animate when the forest is threatened, emerging suddenly to crush loggers, fight fires, or repel invaders.
Combat
Treants are enormously strong and resilient, able to smash through stone walls and shrug off sword blows. Fire is their greatest weakness, and even the threat of fire can cause them to hesitate. They are slow-moving but can command other trees to entangle enemies.
Lore
Treants are among the oldest beings in Aedelore-some claim to remember the Age of Silence and even earlier times. Druids seek them out for wisdom, though Treants measure time so differently that conversations can take days.
