Description

Manticores are terrifying chimeras with the body of a lion, bat-like wings, and a tail tipped with venomous spikes that can be launched like projectiles. Their faces are disturbingly humanoid, capable of crude speech and cruel laughter.

Behavior

Manticores are intelligent and sadistic, often toying with prey before killing it. They delight in causing fear and will sometimes demand tribute from settlements rather than attacking directly. Their ability to speak makes them more dangerous-they can lie, negotiate, and betray.

Combat

Manticores attack from the air, launching tail spikes before closing for melee. The spikes carry paralytic venom that makes victims easy prey. Grounding a Manticore requires ranged weapons or magic; once grounded, they are still formidable but can be overwhelmed by numbers.
