Description

Earth Elementals are living stone, typically humanoid but capable of taking any shape. They range from pebble-sized to massive titans of living rock. They move slowly but with inexorable force.

Behavior

Earth Elementals are patient and territorial, viewing time very differently than mortals. They protect locations that have remained undisturbed for centuries and react violently to mining or excavation in their territories. Once roused to anger, they are nearly impossible to calm.

Combat

Physical weapons are largely ineffective against Earth Elementals-they simply reform around wounds. Sustained magical assault can destroy them, and water erosion magic is particularly effective. Their slowness is their primary weakness.

Lore

Tiamats faithful revere Earth Elementals as expressions of the Steadfast Ones will. Dwarven miners have developed rituals to appease Earth Elementals before beginning work, asking permission rather than simply digging.
