The Prophecy (Chapter 1)

The text from the mysterious woman's parchment:

English Translation:

To the four who carry the truth within.

Where peace was born, the lie rests.
Where earth and greenery became ash, a name sleeps in the fire.
In the shadow of the tree,
beneath the three rootless leaves,
grows something that should never have taken root.

One of the fallen still speaks.
Four of the living carry its voice.

You have met in dreams.
You have felt the cold in your bones,
and the warmth that leads both life and destruction.

Travel before the full moon sinks.
Seek wisdom beneath the frozen wall.
There you will understand why it is you.

Fate already knows your names.

Letter: My Beloved, My Last Breath (Chapter 1)

A grief-stricken letter from Elaen to a fallen soldier:

Din I smärta, i kärlek, i evighet.. - Elaen

English Translation:

I don't know why I write. There is no mail coach that carries grief where you have gone. No crow flies to the fields of the fallen. But my hands cannot stop seeking you, so they write... to keep from screaming.

They said you died bravely. That you fell with your sword raised and your heart open. But I wonder, were you afraid, my love? Did you think of me? Of her small hands? Did you know that this... that this was the end of us?

Yours, in pain, in love, in eternity - Elaen

Burnt Paper 1: The Singing King (Chapter 1)

English Translation:

...stepped not..... ink.. we began k...before the light, but it lied and we smiled back. For when gods speak in sunlight, they whisper truths in darkness. I heard Malcath singing through the crys....and in every note was a question. Why do they fear the deep? Why do they shade themselves from what mirrors, but in... answers?

...lost your crown because you refused to bear it in blindness. They said you betrayed first, when they stopped asking.

We who drown willingly, we remember. We sing beneath the surface, we watch in silence. And when the world stops breathing, your voice shall sound again. Not as storm, but as stillness.

Burnt Paper 2: Our King (Chapter 1)

Swedish Original:

Ditt namn viskades.......... i.... förbjuden skrift.

English Translation:

I wr.......... The ink..... But I remember you so............ alive, burning .......
The others turned away when the river died. I fell to my knees. I understood. Not a betrayal, an offering. You gave our city to the emptiness, to reach what the gods had hidden. What is a city, compared to truth? What is death, compared to eternal will?

Malcath, I have ........ dreams. Your name was whispered.......... in.... forbidden script. And yo.......r.....not gone. ............waiting... You are ....th.....m....refuses to die out.

Tohu feared you, because you saw what she concealed. We others closed our eyes, but you, you opened your eye in the darkness. That is why I remember you not as a monster. I remember you as our king.

Our king, who wanted more than quiet glory and stagnant faith. When you return I shall......... Not with swords, not with....... But with truth and with k........

For it was not your power I followed, it was your .........understanding. And I am still hungry.

Aldric's Message (Chapter 2)

Found in a dead man's boot at the crossroad:

Zelgor awakens. The King seeks a way back. I heard them in camp, they talk of a ritual in the old chambers. Something to open a path. Tell someone. Anyone. Before it's too late.

, Aldric

Eryndor's Diary, Key Passage (Chapter 2)

Zarathen was only the messenger. Zelgor is the source. The first shadow that existed before the light. Malcath heard him in dreams long before the creature from the Void came. I have hidden my complete testimony in the chambers beneath the library, the only place he never went. If anyone reads this: do not seek the truth unless you are prepared to bear it. And if you go down into the ruins, bring light. Bring much light.

The Recitation of Chaos

An ancient ritual chant invoking the five Chaos Dragons. The four parts are scattered across Chapters 1 and 2. Collecting all four is optional but provides deeper understanding of the cosmic threat.

DM Guidance: The Recitation is not meant to be used by the PCs, it is a warning. The cult "The King's Voice" is attempting to perform this ritual. Understanding it helps the party understand what they're trying to prevent.

Det sjunde sigillet är nu brutet
Hör dina barns åkallan och vakna ur din fruktansvärda sömn

Lore Fragments (Chapter 3)

These handouts are found in the Testimony Chamber and Lorenzia. They provide deep world-building context from the Mysteries of Aedelore.

1. The Mystery of the Void (VIII-X)

Beings within the Void, entities older than the Black Sun. Called "the Outer," "the Dark Dwellers," or simply "the Hungry."

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Mystery of the Void

2. The Mystery of the Void (XII-XIII)

Why blood magic is forbidden, why certain names must never be spoken, why the seals beneath the Lake of Shadows were placed with desperate care. "Sunken City lies above the Lake of Shadows. Malcath dug too deep."

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Mystery of the Void

3. The Forbidden Arts (III-V)

Blood magic, blood freely given has power; blood taken by force has more. "The souls whose blood is stolen do not forget."

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Forbidden Arts

4. The Forbidden Arts (XV-XVI)

Sunken City fell to the forbidden arts. Malcath practiced all five and invented more. "Mordecai continues his work."

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Forbidden Arts

5. The Hidden Names (XI-XII)

Creatures that collect True Names. The thing under the Lake of Shadows whispered names to the ambitious.

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Hidden Names

6. The Hidden Names (XVIII)

Warning about names. "Never answer when something in the darkness calls you by a name you don't recognize." Scratched beneath: a PC's name, "It called itself [name]."

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Hidden Names
Important: Fragment #6 should be personalized, write in the name of the PC who accepted Malcath's whisper or has the strongest supernatural connection. This is a deeply unsettling moment when a player realizes their character's name appears in a centuries-old document.

7. The Nature of Souls (VI-VII)

When the body dies, the soul cannot perish. Between lives it rests in Tatsu's realm.

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Nature of Souls

8. The Cycle of Ages (II-III)

Three times before, the Black Sun released its light. Three times the universe blossomed and faded. "We dwell in the fourth exhalation."

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Cycle of Ages

9. The Cycle of Ages (VI-VII)

The turnings of ages are marked by upheaval. "We stand now at such a turning."

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Cycle of Ages

10. The Eleven Seals (XVI-XVII)

Seals hold through truth, not force.

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Eleven Seals

11. The Dreaming of Gods (IX-X)

Sometimes a mortal catches a dreaming god's attention. Gods can be awakened, it has happened twice.

For the full lore text, see the wiki: The Dreaming of Gods

12. The Seven Veils (IX-X)
