Half-Elves

📜

Half-elves walk between two worlds, born of the union between Elves and Humans. They inherit the pointed ears of their elven parent - though less pronounced - and the varied complexion and build of their human heritage. Their eyes often carry a faint luminous quality, a whisper of elven starlight diluted by mortal blood. They age slowly compared to humans, living two or three centuries, yet their lifespan feels painfully brief to their elven kin. This duality defines them: too mortal for the Elves, too otherworldly for the Humans.

Half-elves are natural diplomats and wanderers, shaped by a lifetime of navigating the spaces between cultures. Where a human might force their way through a situation and an elf might wait centuries for the right moment, a half-elf learns to read the room, adapt their approach, and find common ground. They possess an instinctive understanding of people - their motivations, their fears, their unspoken truths - born not from magic but from necessity. Many become merchants, translators, spies, or adventurers, drawn to roles where their ability to bridge worlds becomes a strength rather than a burden.

Despite their social gifts, half-elves carry a quiet loneliness. Elven society regards them as fleeting - loved perhaps, but never truly belonging to the timeless halls and ancient traditions. Human society sees in them something uncanny, a reminder of a world beyond mortal understanding. Some half-elves embrace this outsider status, finding freedom in belonging to no one; others spend their lives searching for a place to call home. The Prophecy of the Return speaks of “the child born of three bloods,” and many scholars believe this refers to a half-elf - a bridge between peoples, destined to unite the fractured races of Aedelore in its darkest hour.
