Draft Horse
Husbandry guide by Stablemaster Aldwyn Bridger
Classification: Work Animal
Size: Large
Lifespan: 20-25 years
Description
The draft horses of Aedelore are massive, powerful beasts bred for strength rather than speed. Standing taller than a man at the shoulder, these gentle giants pull plows, haul wagons, and perform countless heavy tasks that would break lesser animals.
Temperament
Despite their imposing size, draft horses are notably calm and patient. They bond strongly with their handlers and work willingly. Rarely startled, they provide steady reliability in all conditions.
Care Requirements
Require substantial food - grain supplemented with hay. Need spacious stabling and regular exercise. Hooves require frequent care due to their weight. Prone to leg injuries if overworked.
Breeds
Dawnshire Grey - pale coats, exceptional endurance. Ironwood Black - strongest breed, used in mining. Mountain Draft - shorter but surefooted for hilly terrain.
