Draugr
Type: Animated corpse
Habitat: Ancient tombs, barrows, battlefields
Threat Level: Moderate
Description
Draugr are corpses that have risen from death, animated by rage, regret, or dark magic. Unlike mindless zombies, Draugr retain fragments of their former intelligence and often guard the places where they died with single-minded determination.
Behavior
Most Draugr are bound to specific locations-their tomb, their home, or the site of their death. They will not pursue intruders beyond these boundaries but will attack anything that enters with terrible ferocity. Some Draugr can speak, though their words are usually threats or laments.
Combat
Draugr are stronger than they were in life and feel no pain. They can be destroyed by dismemberment, fire, or blessed weapons. Silver is particularly effective. They are vulnerable to sunlight, which forces them to retreat to darkness.
Lore
The faithful of Tatsu consider Draugr a tragedy-souls that refused to accept his guidance and now exist in a tortured half-state. Proper funeral rites prevent Draugr rising; their existence often indicates disturbed graves or deaths so violent that the soul could not find peace.
