Description

Feathered serpents with magnificent wings but no legs, Amphipteres are considered sacred in some cultures and terrors in others. Their iridescent plumage shimmers with magical energy, and they possess limited spellcasting ability.

Behavior

Amphipteres are more intelligent than their bestial appearance suggests. Some serve as guardians of ancient temples; others hunt freely in their jungle domains. They communicate through a form of magical telepathy.

Combat Notes

Their bite delivers magical venom that causes hallucinations. They cast illusion magic instinctively. Feathers are valuable spell components. Respectful approach may result in parley rather than combat.
